Previous version overview (2025)

July 2026 - 5th Regional Connectathon

From July 27 to 30, 2026, Panama City will host the fifth edition of the Regional Connectathon, a key milestone for clinical interoperability within the framework of the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health (PH4H).

This meeting represents a strategic opportunity to validate our region's technical capabilities in secure information exchange.

The purpose is to facilitate that health data follows the patient regardless of borders, eliminating technological barriers to strengthen the quality and timeliness of healthcare.

The event brings together delegates from PH4H and RACSEL member countries, health authorities, and technical teams from across the region. Together, we foster an ecosystem of collaboration and innovation to build a connected, interoperable regional health system centered on people's well-being.

Connectathon Tracks

The 5th Connectathon is designed to address the most significant digital health challenges in the Americas. In this edition, we have evolved into three strategic tracks that will guide the technical testing, focused on consolidating an interoperable, resilient, and citizen-centered regional health system

Track 1 – Cross-Border Continuity of Care (IPS and Telehealth): This track is the pillar of regional clinical care and is divided into two critical components:

  • International Patient Summary (IPS LAC): Validating the access and continuous update of essential clinical information in citizenship mobility scenarios, ensuring that data follows the patient.
  • Telehealth (Interconsultations): Enabling the exchange of requests and structured medical orders between specialists from different countries. This component aims to address both the care of patients in transit and the lack of local specialist availability, allowing for efficient regional medical collaboration for complex diagnoses and treatments.

Track 2 - Digital vaccination certificates: This track focuses specifically on the sovereignty and international validation of Yellow Fever immunization. The objective is to demonstrate the interoperability of these certificates under the WHO ICVP standards, facilitating the onboarding process to the Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN). It seeks to ensure that yellow fever vaccination records are verifiable and recognized securely and automatically across any participating jurisdiction, facilitating safe transit for individuals.

Track 3 – Cross-Border e-Prescription: As a knowledge dissemination exercise, this track explores the interoperability of Digital Medical Prescriptions. It focuses on validating proofs of concept so that patients can consult their active medication list and present it at pharmacies in a country other than the one of issuance, promoting the use of international standards and the recognition of active ingredients.
