The medical record is a fundamental element for the continuity of care and for the doctor-patient relationship, it is also considered an essential tool for the decisions that the health professional must make in the process of patient care and treatment.


The benefits of the electronic medical record point to an improvement in care with greater efficiency, safety and quality for the patient. Similarly, the digitization of health information brings new challenges, some of them related to the need to implement interoperability processes.


RACSEL has managed to consolidate the experiences of 5 Latin American countries and to generate a reflective work around fundamental elements for the adoption of the electronic health record in our countries.
